In response to Cpt. Dumbass, "very carefully!" This was re golfing with broken toes, think today
they are just a dazzling purple. As the Red Hatters have a float again in the Barriere Fall
Fair...and as our dress is usually purple, I can just sit on the float with my foot up on display.
Didn't want to walk the whole parade route anyways.
The Barriere Fall Fair has been going for over 50 years. Started as a small village country
harvest and rodeo and is still basically the same thing. People bring their jams, pies, goats,
chickens etc. for viewing and prizes. Kids run around being chased by bees, flaying their
sugared candy floss against their stings. Hand held Bingo cards with the little slidy plastic
pieces are clung to for prizes of at least $1.00 per game.
Hawkers bark out their wares and of course there is always the clown scaring small children.
This is the first year that the Chuck Wagon Races aren't happening. Too damn dangerous.
Cause Armstrong accessed (stole) our Labour Day weekend spot and because they are
the biggest Country Fair in BC, our crowds are down, but enthusiastic. The midway rides
have left us for Armstrong too, but there is fun for everyone there. The Beer Garden, of
course, never leaves.
This will be the first year I haven't worked at the Curling Rink Concession Stand. While it
was insane it was fun.
