Spring

Alright golf course is supposedly opening this week. Time to dust
off the clubs, put on my golf shoes and get out there. The Course
is a beautiful one, but ask anyone it's a tough walk, a great many
long hikes up side of mountain. That's where electric carts come
in extremely handy. If I ever win big money I think I'll have an
escalator installed between the 4th and 5th holes. That is one steep hike!
Back from family funeral, very sad, but boy this cousin had alot
of friends. People came from everywhere, Bev, was a sweet,
caring person, who had the knack of making everyone feel special!
A trait more of us could use. When you were talking to her, you knew she had your complete
attention.
You remember the stong, "turn around." Was from "Fiddler on the Roof" and the character
was talking about how one minute it seems your children are small...and in a single breath,
they are grown up with children of their own.
That's what happened this week. Years ago, we called them "the 3 ladies." They were the
Matriarchs that kept the family together and connected. It seems such a short time ago that
they were a major force in our lives and we were kids, then young adults with kids.
Now, the three of us kids are now the "3 ladies." When did that happen. Our family was a
large one, now we are the Aunts and Grandmothers. How can we ever live up to what
the past family members. We are so far apart, cousins have never met cousins. When I
was growing up, my cousins were my closest friends. Kinda sad.
Oh well, promise tomorrow will be a cheerier post!

It is interesting how the wheels of life turn and some leave and other's take the their place. My heart goes out to you and your family. Sounds like a wonderful person has left our world...I know she will be missed!

Thank you guys for your posts.
Wheels do turn, one of the cousins
just had a baby grandaughter born.
Cycle does keep going.

Ok, so it's time for Spring Cleaning, have about 1,000 things
I'd like to turf. Why we keep
stuff around that we haven't used
in years, is beyond me.
I'm scared of our 3/4 basement,
I'm sure there are things living down there. No one's gonna get
me to go there, so Big Red will
have hire big Grandson to help him clear that one.

? do you have a list of things
that really make you want to scream

here's mine:
prolific offenders
Known gang member
known drug house
known drug dealers
know sex offender

it's disgusting, court system
and lawyers seem to just play
out there parts. Find a loop-
hole, any loophole, doesn't matter
if the guy is as guilty as they come. The one with the best lawer or biggest bucks win.

Wasting the court times and millions of our dollars--Picton
Murder Trials.

Why can't the system come up with
some a program where people
can get turned around while they
are in jail, rather than coming out
worse than when they went it.

Our troops have to sleep in tents
and risk their lives every day,
why shouldn't prisoners have the
same tough life style.
There is a program on TV that
deals with teenagers who are
on the verge of destroying their
lives and families. They spend
months living in tents, basic foods
that they have to cook themselves
over fire. They have to do hard
physical work and have to earn
privileges.
Why couldn't we have some trial
prisons like that, long distances
from their family, friends and
people who have helped get them
there.
All the while being taught to have
some self respect for themselves
and others.
You want to earn privileges you
want to get out at some point,
then prove you deserve it.

ok, got a little carried away but this has been bugging me for sometime and I'll bet there are a lot of people out there who feel
the same way!!

Working in a law firm, I do believe our judicial system could use ALOT of work. I often think about how things would be in our great land if we used other countries judicial tactics i.e. cut off your hand if you steal. I often make the joke that we would never have the three strikes system if we had THAT law in place for those who stole!

I have a friend who was sentenced to jail for statutory rape. THOUGH his decision was a poor one, this girl, though underage, and unbeknownst to him, was at a party, at 4:00 in the morning, drinking, smoking, doing everything everyone else was doing, hitting on my friend and then of course one thing led to another and she became pregnant. It wasn't until MONTHS after this that he learned she was only 16 years old! (He is 21)

Though she consented, the girl’s father was understandably unhappy and pressed charges on my friend.

This has resulted in him having to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, four months in jail, fines out the wahzoo and 10 years probation.

I agree that his decision was bad, but I have seen the girl, and by the way she dresses and acts, you would never know she was 16. AND where the HELL were the parents at THAT night? Who let’s your kid stay out that late? What did you EXPECT would happen?

This is where the system should really take into account the WHOLE story and act accordingly. There should be a punishment implemented, but my friend is no rapist, nor is he a sex offender of any kind. He is just young and dumb.

I don't know what the answer is, but indeed, things should change!

Jess, that is so sad. Guess things
really aren't all that black and
white. Would be easier if it was.

It always seems that the people who
just made a mistake, a moments poor
decision get it worse than the people who purposely desire to hurt
people.
I'm glad he has a friend like u.
